A nod to the classic Bill Furness machines that did plenty of the work throughout the Australian golden age. There's a reason those frames have stuck around — they were built for hard, day in day out tattooing, the way a machine should. The Furness Shader carries that same spirit, hand built from raw stock with geometry that honours the originals. A proper working machine with proper roots. 

Every machine comes standard with the Kanga Screw — a pure silver boxing kangaroo contact screw, cast locally in Melbourne. Developed alongside a mate who shared the same vision: an Aussie staple sitting proud on top of an Aussie machine. You won't find it anywhere else.

The J Frame's side plate has more history than most. Drawn off old correspondence of Paul Rogers' — those original notes and sketches laid out by hand in the shed, transferred to a drawing, then sent off to be laser cut locally. From that one drawing, every J Frame side plate is identical — a bit of tattoo history brought back to life on the bench and built Australian-made from there. 

From the side plate up, every J Frame Shader is hand built from raw stock — cut, machined, TIG welded and finished on the bench. There's a set of jigs made specifically for this frame, so even though every machine is put together one at a time, they all sit within the same tolerances and to the same high standard. Honouring the original work without taking shortcuts on it.

Fitted as standard with the True Blue Iron vice — spring-loaded eccentric cam with a 304 stainless cam tooth that holds up under hard use. Takes any tube style without splitting the base, no mucking about. Less vibration, more rigidity, and a machine that earns its keep.

what you get

The machine fitted with the Kanga Screw, a set of spare springs, and a handshake through the post. Packed properly and sent tracked. 

Every machine is made one at a time, in the order it comes in. Standard builds usually take anywhere from 6–8 weeks from receiving your order.
